Chapter 4 Blog Assignment: the Discovery of Protons

To examine the Discovery of one of the three subatomic particles I decided to first take a look at what exactly a Proton is and why it is important in the Glog below.

What is a proton?

Now that the basic characteristics of the Proton have been established I went on to outline the progression of developments that led to the discovery of the Proton.

Discovery of the Proton Glog

My third and final Glog looks at one experiment in particular and examines the way it was set up and the drastic effect it had on the discovery of the Proton.

  1. Well done and quite informative! There could be some improvements, however, and I will support my stance with three points:
    1. The spelling was atrocious! Grammar and mechanics should never be the root of the problem, so my first "contention" is that you proofread.
    2. The Canal Ray experiment by Goldstein was somewhat understated. You talked so little about the proton's relation to it specifically that it was left unwarranted. If you could have elaborated on that, it would have been much better.
    3. Add some creativity. The Glogs look good, but make it appealing to the eye. Add some moving elements or more pictures. Also, it would be nice if the citations themselves were in the Glogs, so that I could refer to them immediately.
Overall, I'm thoroughly impressed. I especially liked the way you split the Glogs apart, and the first one was perfect, informationally. I commend you on your good work!

  2. Sahil you're glog was extremely informational! You elaborated very well on each experiment and i learned a lot from reading your glogs! the movie was also very imformational! However to make your glog more appealing next time add a few more pictures and explain how the picture relates to what you are discussing in your text. Also there were some grammar errors so next time check it over another time! I do realize you wrote a lot so that would be tricky to catch everything, so overall really good job!

  3. Sahil, your presentation was quite overwellmingly swell. I found it to be very informational. You might want to make your glogs a tad bit more interesting though. Maybe next time add some animations and cool gagets and gizmos. this gets a 4 out of 5 protons in my book!

  4. Sahil, your glogs were both informative and exquisite. Plus, the fact that you chose protons (a difficult particle that barely any people chose) contributed to the success in your blog. However, there were some grammar errors that do not help your blog's status. That aside, great job!
